In September, 2009, I began serching for someone to make a John Deere tractor cake for my son's third birthday. This search led to my awakening on the subject of cake decorating and to my desire to learn some of the tips of the trade. I discovered that a local party rental store would be offering the Wilton Course I during the month of October, and I promptly called them to reserve my spot in the class. I didn't have the money, and I didn't have the time, but I had an intense desire to make this my new hobby. And so it began. My first cake was a green tractor. It was a hit. The next thing I knew, friends were asking me to make their children's birthday cakes. I was excited about this endeavor! A hobby? For me? I couldn't remember the last time I had one of those! Do I have the money now? No! Do I have the time? Even less than before! Am I in love with this new hobby? YES! I love it when someone looks at a cake I made and says, "You MADE that?" And I proudly say, "Yes I DID!"
